REPORT OF 3RD TEST: INDIA
VS AUSTRALIA
Winning the
2nd test against Australia in MCG ground, India settled the series
with 1-1 after almost all the fans lost their hope from team India as there was
no Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami. Hopes of people were again
raised from 2nd test and then came the 3rd test match.
The 3rd
test match took place on 7thof January to 11th of
January. The test this time took place
in the SCG stadium and people came to watch the match. The toss was won by
Australia and Australian team decided to bat as they seem to have ideal pitch
for batting.
Will
Pucovski and David Warner came in ground as the openers from Australian side.
David Warner scored 5 runs from 8 balls played and was sent to pavilion by Mohammed
Siraj and the catch was taken by Cheteshwar Pujara. Pucovski and Marnus Labuschagne had a good
partnership of 100 runs until Pucovski got leg before on 62 from 110 balls by
Navdeep Saini. Labuschagne and Steve Smith again had 100 run partnership as
Labuschagne was caught by Captain Ajinkya Rahane on the ball of Ravindra Jadeja
on 91 runs from 196 balls. Then there were no more bigger and longer
partnerships. Mathew Wade got out on 13 from 16 balls and gave his wicket to
Ravindra Jadeja, in the hands of Jasprit Bumrah. The score was 232/4.
Cameron
Green got leg before to Jasprit Bumrah on duck at score of 249 by playing
21 balls. Captain of Australian team, Tim Paine got bowled to Jasprit Bumrah by
playing 10 balls and making 1 run. Pat Cummins gave his wicket to Ravindra
Jadeja by playing 13 balls but making 0 runs. Mitchell Starc was caught by
Shubman Gill on the ball bowled by Navdeep Saini, making 24 runs from 30 balls.
Nathan Lyon made no run from 3 balls and got leg before to Ravindra Jadeja. The
last wicket was of Steve Smith and he got run out by Ravindra Jadeja, making
131 runs from 226 balls. A total of 338 runs were set on board by Australian
team. From Indian side, Ravindra Jadeja got 4 wickets, Navdeep Saini and
Jasprit Bumrah got 2-2 wickets each, Mohammed Siraj got 1 wicket and
Ravichandran Ashwin got no wicket.
Then it came
to Indian team and Indians performed in such a way that Rohit Sharma was the
first prey of Indian team and the predator was Josh Hazelwood, who caught and
bowled Rohit Sharma when Rohit was on 26 runs off 77 balls. The next wicket was
of Shubman Gill, Pat Cummins bowled and Cameron Green caught Gill when he was
on 50 runs from 101 balls, this wicket came on 85 runs. The next wicket was of
Ajinkya Rahane on 117 runs and Rahane was bowled on 22 runs from by 70 balls by
Pat Cummins. Hanuma Vihari got run out by making 4 runs off 38 balls by Josh
Hazelwood on 142 runs. Rishabh Pant was caught on 195 runs by David Warner on
the ball of Josh Hazelwood after making 36 runs from 67 balls.
Cheteshwar
Pujara played an innings of 50 runs from 176 balls and got caught by Tim Paine
on the ball of Pat Cummins when India was on 195. Ravichandran Ashwin got run
out by Pat Cummins after making 10 runs from 15 balls when the score of India
was on 206. The 8th wicket of Indian team came on 210 runs in the
form Navdeep Saini as Saini got caught by Mathew Wade on the ball bowled by
Mitchell Starc by making 3 runs from 13 balls. Jasprit Bumrah got run out by
Labuschagne after playing 2 balls and making no run. The last wicket came in
the form of Mohammed Siraj on 244 runs when Siraj made 6 runs off 10 balls.
From Australian side, Pat Cummins took 4 wickets, Josh Hazelwood 2 wickets and
Mitchell Starc took 1 wicket. No wickets were taken by Green, Labuschagne and
Lyon.
In the 2nd innings after getting a lead of 94 runs from the previous innings, David Warner and Will Pucovski from Australian side came on the crease and on the score of 16, Pucovski gave his wicket to Siraj and caught by substitute Saha by making 10 runs off 16 balls. The next batsman was Warner. Warner got leg before by Ashwin, by making 13 runs out of 29 balls on the score of 35. Labuschagne played an innings of 73 runs off 118 balls until he was caught by Saha on the delivery of Navdeep Saini on the score of 138.
The 4th wicket of Australian team came on 148 runs and the
player was Mathew Wade who was caught
again by Saha and on the delivery of Navdeep Saini. Wade made 4 runs from 11
balls. Next wicket was of Steve Smith on 208 who made 81 runs from 167
deliveries and got leg before by Ashwin. The last wicket was of Green on 312
and he made 84 runs from 132 deliveries when he was caught by Saha on the ball
of Bumrah. Tim Paine was not out on 39 off 52 balls when Australian side
declared their innings and a target of 407 was given to India to win this test
match.
In the 2nd
innings of Indian team, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill kicked off the Indian
innings until on the score of 71, Gill gave his wicket by making 31 runs off 64
balls to Josh Hazelwood in the hands of Tim Paine. The 2nd wicket
from Indian side was in the form of Rohit Sharma as Rohit gave his wicket to
Pat Cummins and in the hands of Starc by making 52 runs off 98 balls. Ajinkya
Rahane was the player who was the 3rd wicket from Indian side on the
score of 102 as he played an innings of 4 runs from 18 deliveries and was
caught by Wade on the delivery of Lyon. Rishabh Pant played fantastically as he
made 97 runs after he was hit on his arm but he stood tall and made 97 runs off
118 deliveries and he was caught by Wade on the delivery of Lyon.
The last
wicket was in the form of Cheteshwar Pujara. Pujara made 77 runs off 205
deliveries when he got bowled from Josh Hazelwood. After that, it was Ashwin
and Hanuma Vihari who stood strong and tall enough to take the match towards a
draw. Vihari was having a problem during the match as he was not even able to
walk but he stood on crease and made 23 runs off 161 deliveries. Ashwin made 39
runs off 128 deliveries and both of them were not out and the match was drawn.
